Using Essential Oils For Stress and Mental Exhaustion

Living busy lives, we take on alot day by day, working, taking kids to school, making sure bills are paid, house cleaning, laundry, and I can go on and on. This and more can bring about stress, which can also lead to high blood pressure and stress on the heart. Mental exhaustion is a result of long-term stress. Over time, you can feel overwhelmed and even emotionally drained, and burnt out! This condition can cause a person to not be able to complete their tasks.
Essential oils, because of their chemical compounds, can provide relief to a variety of stress related symptoms and promote relaxation. As always, dilute before use! Here are some essential oils that can help to alleviate mental stress and mental exhaustion:
Lavender
Lavender is one of the most popular essential oils and and as a plant, it has the chemical compound linalool, when inhaled, it exerts its effects through the olfactory neurons in the nose to bring about its calming effects to reduce stress and anxiety symptoms.

Grapefruit

This essential oil is great for stress and anxiety as well. It is great for mental exhaustion and brings about an "uplifting" feeling* as well.
Bear in mind that this essential oil is a photosensitizer, do not apply to the skin prior to sun exposure.
Orange (Sweet)
This citrus oil has calmative and sedative properties. Besides addressing anxiety symptoms, Sweet Orange essential oil is also great for alleviating stress and tension.
Sweet Orange blends well with Lavender, grapefruit, frankincense and sandalwood for stress-reducing applications.
Clary Sage
Clary Sage assists with pyschological stress, anxiety as well as loss of concentration. A study was done on women undergoing stressful tests and results of the study showed when clary sage oil was inhaled, the women felt a sense of relaxation and blood pressure reduction.
Clary Sage smells great when blended with Lavender, Grapefruit or lemon.
Rose Otto (Bulgarian Rose / Turkish Rose)

The sweet scent of rose instantly has a hypnotic spell when inhaled. There are many species of Rose, however, the Bulgarian and Turkish roses are highly sought after for its therapeutic benefits by Aromatherapists and for its scent by perfumers around the world.
80% of this essential oil comes from Bulgaria, and harvesting of the rose takes place in May and June, when the fragrance of roses in the valleys are the strongest!
Besides assisting with reducing stress-related symptoms, Rose otto can also helps with depression, emotional anxiety and nervous tension.
